Lodge History

On Sunday, January 11, 2004 our Lodge was formed. Pictured above are 40 original members of the Lodge. The installation dinner was held at Zandris Stillwood Inn, Wallingford. The Lodge's first meeting was held on February 3 2004 at the North Haven Rec Center. Our lodge is made up of a variety of people of different ages ranging from 17 to 80+. Of course, the majority of the members are of Italian Heritage or those married to an Italian American. However, there are many members from many other nationalities. Our first event was our Distinguished Citizen Dinner held September 18, 2004. We then hosted a bingo on Monday Nights and our most popular event was our Italian Festival of Angels. Our first Italian Festival was held August 26 and 27, 2005.  Our Bingo began on November 15 of 2004. We ended our Festival and Bingo in 2013 but Our Distinguished Citizen dinner is still going on. In 2020 we will hold our 16th Annual dinner.  Our Lodge supports SIF, CSJ, Order Sons & Daughters of Italy Connecticut Grand Lodge Foundation, and many other National, State, and Local Charities. To Date our lodge has given to charity over $171,000.00. Our lodge is made up of a variety of people of different ages ranging from 15 to 80+. Of course the majority of the members are of Italian Heritage or those lucky enough to be married to an Italian American.  However, there are many members of all nationalities. We are a part of the National Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America. The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America (OSDIA) has many other filial lodges in the State of Connecticut, and hundreds more throughout the United States. The Sons of Italy Foundation® (SIF) is the philanthropic arm of the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America. The Commission for Social Justice® (CSJ) is the anti-defamation arm of the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America. Guiding Principles

Our group seeks to perpetuate cultural identity and solidarity within the Italian American community and to propagate unity and cooperation among Italian Americans.  All events put on by the North Haven Sons & Daughters of Italy, Lodge 2805 are intended to embody the attributes of generosity and goodwill that define the Italian spirit.
While we maintain many of our Italian traditions, we are now an ethnically diverse family, striving to best use the vitality of our youth, the talents of our adults, and the wisdom of our senior members.
We feel that this Lodge will provide an important community service to the Town of North Haven, North Branford, Wallingford and our surrounding communities. As well as sustain the social vitality and cultural vibrancy of the Italian American heritage by strengthening family life, uplifting human services, binding together the diverse historical traditions of Italians, and honoring the legacy of

Italian immigration to the United States.
