North Haven Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge 2805 History
We formed our Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge 2805 Sunday, January 11, 2004. A installation dinner was held at Zandris Stillwood Inn, Wallingford, Ct.
Pictured above are 40 original members of Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge 2805. The Lodge’s first meeting was held February 3, 2004 at the Town of North Haven Recreation Center. After that we held meetings in the American Legion. Next we held meets in St Therese, and then we moved to our own rented space, behind Dino’s Restaurant.
Now we meet at St Frances Cabrini Church.
Lodge 2805 has a diversity of members, with many age groups, ranging from 15 to 80+.
As expected the majority of Lodge 2805 members are of Italian American Heritage or those married to an Italian American.
However there are many active members that are not Italian Americans.

The first large event we held, named the Distinguished Citizen Dinner took place on September 18, 2004. This is now Lodge 2805’s main fundraiser and community event.
The event is held yearly to honor distinguished citizens within our Lodge and community.
We continue to hold this event every year. Except in 2020, because of the pandemic, we had to postpone it. We are hoping to hold this event sometime during the summer of 2021. Over the past few years this event has taken place in March.
On a Monday night, November 15, 2005 Lodge 2805 started a bingo. Bingo was held at Zandris Stillwood Inn. After 9 years, we held our last Bingo night in December of 2013. Bingo provided Lodge 2805 the Financial ability to rent a building for approximately 7 years.
Bingo also made it possible for Lodge 2805 to hold our most popular event. Named the Italian Festival of Angels. The Festival was held for 9 years. Beginning on August 26 and 27, 2005. Held on the Town of North Haven Green for our first 6 years (2005 to 2010). Then we moved to St Therese Church Grounds for 2 years. In 2013 we moved the Festival back to the Town Green for the finale.
In addition to the Distinguished Citizen Dinner these events were still in progress. They are Comedy Night, Golf Tournament, Fashion Show, 50’s Dance Party, Breakfast with Santa, Christmas Parties, Lodge Themed Dinners and more.
Once again in 2020 because of the pandemic we were not able to hold any of these events.
Lodge 2805 regular stated meetings are scheduled for the 1st Tuesday of every month.
However, as a result of the pandemic, beginning in April of 2020, Lodge 2805 is meeting via Zoom. More information about when and where we will resume meeting in person will be forthcoming soon.
Our Lodge supports Order Sons and Daughters of Italy Foundation (SIF). And OSDI Commission Social Justice (CSJ).
We also support, Order Sons & Daughters of Italy Connecticut Grand Lodge Foundation.
And also many other National, State, and Local Charities. To Date Lodge 2805 has given over $173,000.00 to charity.
