Our goal is to spread more of a presence of the lodge and its activities throughout the community with good deeds.
We plan on community involvement as well as member involvement to foster this. We are always working on logistics, dates and details for future ideas.
We welcome anyone else interested in joining our small but mighty planning committee.
Best regards,
Denise Mazzotta Krause, Chairwoman.

Ronald McDonald House of CT – Meals from the Heart
We will once again gather at the Rondald McDonald house to cook a dinner for the family members residing there as their children are healing at Yale New Haven Hospital. The date will be Wednesday, November 20th, and we will be cooking chicken soup with rice or pasta and some fresh bread/rolls. We are only allowed 8 people to cook but would love 3 volunteers to join us! Please contact Denise (203-710-7397) if you are interested! We did this last March (see picture above), and it was very much appreciated by RMH and a very rewarding experience.
Christmas Toy Drive for YNHH Toy Closet
We will be collecting toys for the Toy Closet at the November 5th and December 3rd monthly meetings. The deadline will be December 3rd, so we can sort and deliver the toys in time for Christmas. We will also be setting up our collection boxes in the next couple of weeks at the following businesses. We thank them for their support. If anyone knows of a local business willing to house our box, please let Donna know (203-239-0285); we would love to add them to the list.
Arnold’s Jewelers
T & Co. Hair Group
Hello Gorgeous Hair Studio
Studio B
Nick’s Char Pit
And a few new ones that we are confirming --
For those that are new, we collect and deliver new, unwrapped toys for the Toy Closet. The Toy Closet is a program that ensures all pediatric patients that visit Yale New Haven and affiliated hospitals receive a toy upon discharge. This is for all patients, no matter the income level or length of stay. The toys should be small to medium in size, so they will fit in the closets, and any necessary batteries should be supplied with the toy.
Upcoming Winter Activities Being Finalized
We will also be cooking dinners for the Fisher House CT in West Haven. They provide temporary lodging for families of veterans that are receiving inpatient treatment at either the VA Hospital or YNHH at VA expense. We are hoping to do this in February - More info to come.
An opportunity has come our way to support the VA Hospital outpatient patients. This will entail collecting snacks for distribution to veterans after their outpatient appointments as they leave the facility. Again, we will have more details next month.
Other ideas that will be explored is a pet food collection for Animal Haven, and another collection for ‘RKids – stay tuned!
Reminder – our ongoing used sneaker collection is still happening! Please bring any used, bagged sneakers that you no longer need to our monthly meetings. Judy Feather will continue to ship them to Got Sneakers for recycling. The Lodge earns a few dollars for this, but more importantly it is a great way to keep these items out of the landfills!
Thanks to everyone in the Lodge for your ongoing support!
Please contact us with any ideas for future activities or if you would like to join our committee! Thanks again Denise
